Chemical Peels

Bye-bye old skin, hello glow!

At our spa, we offer a variety of chemical peels to help rejuvenate and improve the appearance of your skin. You may be asking yourself, which peel is right for me? Let us help you make the decision easy.

Glycolic Acid Peels are best for…

A glycolic peel is best for individuals with:

❊ uneven skin tone
❊ hyperpigmentation
❊ fine lines
❊ dull skin
❊ normal to oily skin (tolerate this best)

It is also beneficial for those who want to improve the overall texture and appearance of their skin. It is particularly effective for people who have acne as it helps to unclog pores and reduce the appearance of acne scars after about 2-4 treatments. However, it's important to note that before getting a glycolic peel, it's always best to consult with a skincare professional to see if the treatment is suitable for your skin type and concerns, especially if you have a history of acne.

Lactic Acid Peels are best for…

A lactic acid peel on the other hand is best for individuals with:

❊ dry skin
❊ sensitive skin
❊ age spots, hyperpigmentation
❊ all skin types
& for those looking for a milder exfoliation than a glycolic peel

It helps to hydrate and moisturize the skin while gently exfoliating.

However, it's worth noting that it's less penetrative than glycolic peel. So if you deal with stubborn acne, a glycolic peel may be your go to.

Always consult with a dermatologist if you deal with severe acne before proceeding with any peels or if you're taking Accutane.

The Experience

Both glycolic and lactic acid peels are performed by our trained estheticians. The process takes 30 minutes when performed alone. During the treatment, the chemical solution is applied to the skin, and you may feel a slight tingling or burning sensation. After the treatment, your skin may be red and slightly swollen, but this usually subsides within a few hours.

Elle Marie trains her entire team so no matter who your esthetician is, you’ll get Elle’s distinctive touch and her 25 years of experience every time.

The Results – That Celebrity Glow!

After a glycolic peel, you can expect to see improvements in the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin tone, acne, and dull skin. The final results will vary depending on the individual and the strength of the peel used. There will be some downtime, typically a few days of peeling. Book on a Friday and show off your new glow by Monday! Sometimes if the treatment is more advanced you can expect to look like @nursemontana.aesthetics, but don't worry it doesn't hurt, your skin is just going through the motions. And please don't pick or pull at your skin while this is happening. We know it's tempting but don't do it!

After a lactic acid peel, you can expect to see improvements in the overall texture and appearance of the skin, with a more hydrated and moisturized appearance.

We recommend not wearing makeup for at least 4 days to a week to enjoy smooth, fresh, blemish free skin for longer. The results are simply stunning - what can we say?!

A series of 2–4 treatments spaced out every 4 weeks is recommended for best results for both treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to exfoliate and rejuvenate the top layers. The solution causes the dead skin cells to peel off, revealing new, smooth skin underneath. Chemical peels come in different strengths, from light to deep, and can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, acne, and age spots. There are different types of chemical peels, such as glycolic acid peels, lactic acid peels, TCA peels, and more. The choice of the type of peel and the strength of the solution will depend on the skin condition and the desired outcome. The treatment is usually performed by a trained skincare professional, and the recovery time may vary depending on the strength of the peel, with milder peels requiring minimal downtime, whereas deeper peels may require several days of recovery. Chemical peels are a non-invasive treatment that can help improve the appearance of the skin with minimal downtime.

2. Is a chemical peel safe?
No worries, chemical peels are totally safe when done by a pro! Just think of it as giving your skin a little "peel-over" to reveal a fresh, smooth, and radiant complexion. So go ahead, give your skin the spa-treatment it deserves! At Elle Marie Spa, all of our certified estheticians are trained by Elle Marie herself. You get Elle’s 25 years of experience with every treatment.

However, when dealing with more severe skin conditions please consult with a dermatologist first to get the OK.

3. Does a chemical peel hurt?
Chemical peels are not exactly a walk in the park but they are not painful either! You may feel a slight tingling or burning sensation, depending on how advanced the peel is, during the treatment, but nothing you can't handle. It's like a mini-facial with a little more oomph! So don't be scared, just relax and let our pros take care of your skin.

4. How often should you get a peel?
A series of 2–4 treatments spaced out every 4 weeks is recommended for best results for both treatments. And no, coming in more often is not actually recommended here. At home, we recommend following a complimentary skin regime to maintain a year round glow.
